Planning shelves and wall finishing

From a patch that needs attention to shelving that makes space work better, plan the repair and the finished appearance together.

01

Start with what the space needs to do

For shelving, describe what you intend to store and how you want to use it. For a repair, explain the damage and the result you want. A useful plan depends on function as well as appearance.

02

Include the surrounding wall

Photograph the whole area, not just the mark or hole. Corners, trim, outlets and nearby furniture can affect access and the finished appearance. Approximate dimensions are helpful; exact installation decisions follow an assessment.

03

Talk about matching the finish

Keep any paint name or leftover product information you have. Existing surfaces can change with age and light, so a repair may need a wider finishing area than the damaged spot alone. Discuss expectations before work begins.

04

Prepare the room for the conversation

Mention furniture that is difficult to move, access limitations and any preferred timing. For shelves, include the product details if already purchased. Maz can then review the installation or repair as a whole.

Bring these to the conversation

  • What surface or item needs attention?
  • What are its approximate dimensions?
  • Are there existing colors or finishes to match?
